GE and Farming in New Zealand
North American Farmers’ Experiences of GM crops

The new report from the UK Soil Association has found that:

  • GE crops have been an economic disaster costing the US economy $12 billion from 1999 - 2001 (NZ$25 billion) and bringing lower farm profitability

  • Co-existence of GE, conventional and organic crops has failed with widespread contamination at all levels of the agricultural industry

  • Increased yields have not materialised and Herbicide Tolerant crops have led to more herbicide use [more]
